My love for photography began in high school, where a single class changed everything. Learning the fundamentals of photography—including developing black-and-white film by hand—gave me a deep appreciation for timing, light, and storytelling. What started in a darkroom quickly evolved into a lifelong passion behind the lens.

While shooting for my school’s yearbook, I was introduced to sports photography—and I was immediately hooked. There is nothing quite like freezing a moment that lasts a fraction of a second yet carries a lifetime of meaning. The intensity before the play, the explosion of motion at the peak, the raw emotion on a podium, or the quiet devastation after an agonizing defeat—these moments are the heart of sports, and they deserve to be captured with intention and respect.

At Split Second Photos, my focus is on telling the athlete’s story. Every image is designed to help viewers feel the moment—whether that means pride, determination, triumph, or resilience. Great sports photography isn’t just about action; it’s about connection. It’s about honoring the work, sacrifice, and emotion that athletes bring to competition every day.
